knighthawk Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 nothing here in Kansas only 1 '' snow Quote
wilmot andy Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 I just came in from shoveling. The snowblower bogs down the snow is so wet and heavy. We got about 8" so far and its really coming down. Don't know when its supposed to stop. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 We have about the same amount of snow as Wilmont Andy. Almost whiteout conditions outside right now. Supposed to get about 14 plus inches by about 6 PM tonight. Have about a 12 to 14 inch snowdrift in front of the garage now. Not trying to keep up with it like Andy. Will just wait until it stops then work on cleaning it up. Snowblower should take it if I go slow. If not I'll knock on my neighbors door and pay him to plow it out. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 What about the tornado's that ripped through down south? Any of our people in that area. This snow is nothin'. I already drove to Beloit and back this morning. (about 155 miles round trip) Then up to Germantown and back this afternoon. (about 20 mile round trip) The afternoon trip was worse because of near whiteout conditions. But I like snow. It's difficult to get around during the storms, and a bit of work to clean up afterwards, but it looks so nice having everything covered with a nice blanket of white. We've just been spoiled lately with mild winters. It's about time we get nailed again like in years gone by. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 Had maybe an inch or less of snow this morning. None of the big winds from last night. Now the snow is gone....just cold. Quote
blueskies Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 Anybody hear from my ARCH RACE RIVAL Don C? Sent him an e-mail this morning, looked like the tornados were close in nearby towns... haven't heard back from him yet. Pete Quote

Hey Merle, since you like this weather so much and don't seem to mind it, come on over to the house. I've got a full tank of gas in the snowblower and a shovel, plus all the extra gas necessary that might be necessary in the garage. I'll let you have your fun in our driveway knocking out the 3 foot drifts that are in it. It's still snowing and blowing so by tomorrow those should be 4 foot drifts. Don, glad to hear Lisa is ok and no damage to your place. Feel sorry for all those people hit by all those tornado's. Quote
1947PLEVY Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 Pretty Bad here in Northeastern Tenn. Had a Gulf Transmission pipe line blow about 10 miles from the house and about 23 people killed in the next county over (Macon). My Heart and Prayers go out to their families. Also here in Sumner County alot of destruction, It was worse this time around, last time was about 3 or 4 yrs ago. Can't really remember old age and baldness setting in... Don C.. Glad the Boro got spared.. Everyone Please remember the Lost ones in their Prayers. God Bless Us All... John Ennis 47Plevy Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 Well said, I watched it on the news, You all are having a tough winter, everone please be careful, I saw in some areas the Natl. Guard was called in to help with snow removal. Don C glad to here Lisa is OK. I hope Ed G is alright. I will be glad when this season passes. our Prayers be with you all. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 Rodney, They called the guard out for snow removal for some small town either in Washington state or Oregon, forgot which. Snow was up to the rooftops out there. Quote
55 Fargo Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 Sorry to hear of the deaths attributed to the nasty weather, some areas got a lot of snow, some twisters and thunderstorms. Glad our friends on here are okay. Although it is cold here in Manitoba, we have a lot less snow than usual, not sure why, it has been brisk though, today it was about 15 outside........................Fred Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 We haven't been out of the house all day due to the snow. Will start cleaning up the snow tomorrow. Have a 3 foot drift on our patio and across the driveway in front of the garage. Just noticed we evidently have a nice drift coming off our roof too. It's hanging about a foot past the overhang in mid air. At least it's just a few flurries coming down now, but still drifting. Have several of these drifts hanging over the back of the house. I'll have to knock this one down if it's still there tomorrow so it doesn't hit us on the head if it falls. Pay no attention to the thing hanging from the overhang. That's just a plastic chain the wife uses to hang a flower pot in the summer. Quote
Frank Blackstone Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 We take tornadoes very seriously around here having suffered through too many. Our Red Cross chapter is well equipped and is already deep in the South to aid relief. Prayers for all in peril and pain. Keep the faith John Ennis. Quote
Ed Griffin Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 Thanks for the call yesterday Tim, really appreciate the concern. Didn't see I had any calls until late. Alot of good it does to keep the cell phone in my pocket if it doesnt ring. It got really nasty around here Tuesday evening and again that night. Two fronts came hailing through. There were at least 2 tornadoe's that hit in the city, Memphis, as well as others hitting surrounding counties causing damage. Some people got trapped under debris at a mall, warehouses and students in county above us did as well when dorm got hit. It was bad all over, several tornadoes touched down or were seen. Basically was up through the night watching local news and listening to scanner. I hope that Clay Diggs & family are ok. They had one on radar but don't know if it touched down or not. Let us hear from you Clay. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 Hey Merle' date=' since you like this weather so much and don't seem to mind it, come on over to the house. I'll let you have your fun in our driveway knocking out the 3 foot drifts that are in it. It's still snowing and blowing so by tomorrow those should be 4 foot drifts. [/quote']Thanks Norm, but I got my fill of snow removal last night. I got home and cleared out my driveway and sidewalk with snow much deeper than my snow blower was tall. Then I drove back up to Menomonee Falls to my girlfriend's house to clear her out. The fun part about that is the fact that the counties had pulled their plow trucks earlier in the day because "it was too dangerous to be out there", and yet I'm driving all over the place. She has a smaller snow blower than I do and the snow was even deeper. Close to 2 feet deep down the entire driveway. I was pretty wooped when I was done. This morning I re-cleared the end of the driveway from the snow plow, then cleaned off her deck. Tonight I'll probably have to redo my driveway again, but as I said, that's winter in Wisconsin. It's just a necessary evil to live here. Good luck with the clean up today, Norm Merle Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 Thats Ok Merle, I was just kidding anyway. Sounds like you had a lot of cleanup work with cleaning two houses. We got ours cleaned up this morning. Wife was working on the sidewalk and porch while I started the driveway with the snowblower. Got about 8 or 10 feet cleaned out and up the driveway comes my next door neighbor with his snowblower. His blower is bigger than mine and between the two of us we had it cleaned out in about 30 minutes, except for the small detail work. He's also the one who put a new plow on his pickup a few weeks ago. Said he didn't want to use the plow because he's not that good with it yet. Said he tried to plow his driveway yesterday and the snow built up in front of him and stopped him dead even with his 4 wheel drive. Said he did his own with the blower earlier. Said he needs more practice. Really nice out there today. Sun shinning and about 40 degrees. You are right. This storm is nothing new compared with years past. Its just that we've had so many years go buy that we didn't get storms like this, that now everyone is spoiled. I much prefer a few snow storms over all the sub zero weather we use to get. At least it's warm out. Quote
clay diggs Posted February 8, 2008 Report Posted February 8, 2008 Thanks, Ed, for inquiring. The last storm we lost half of a hickory tree and several sections of a wooden fence, but no house damage or tornado. This time no tornadoes in Wynne, but several in surrounding areas. Due to high winds, lost repaired fence plus two more sections. No damage to shop, which is l5 miles from house. One touched down briefly two miles west of shop. Clay and family. Quote
