1941Dodge Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 I have a 1940's car heater that I bought a few years back, But, I live in CA and I don' need a heater! And I want to keep my orig. fan in the car, so, I want to get rid of it! -$150+shipping Quote
55 Fargo Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 Wesley, could you not use the heater on the cooler days or mornings in Winter when it ahs rained etc. Having a heater in car, tends to get her toasty dry, when it is cool damp. Even if it is 40 and damp, a heater can get the chill out in a hurry..................Fred Quote
1941Dodge Posted January 18, 2008 Author Report Posted January 18, 2008 Well, I just use a coat! I have it on when I get in the car anyway! + I would like to keep the orig. fan and defrost in the car, and I would have to take them out to put this in! Quote

Um...I live in California too, and I'm making good use of my heater right now..especially on those nights it get's into the 30's and 40's and even sometimes in the 20's. Nothing feels better than to be inside a nice, warm car when it's cold as hell outside. I'd think it over before getting rid of it. Quote
55 Fargo Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 Hey Darin, 20s 30s overnight, wow would love to have that as an absolute low, it is currently -18 in my location, with the windchill its -40, overnight lows expected for the next few nights at least down to -25 to -30 farenheit, with a wind it could easily be in the -45 range, hopefully this will be our only major deep freeze this winter. This one may push down to Bob Ts and Knighthawks area, but of course if the get down to 10 or even 0 that would be cold for them. Turned the heat off in my insulated garage last night, it went down to 22 in there, but that is almost a 40 degree difference than outside, insulation makes a big difference......................Fred Quote
Young Ed Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 Fred its almost as cold here. Today high of 0 tonight -14 with windchill into the minus 30s. Quote
oldmopar Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 You should try ebay at your prices 150 for a heater 200 for a incorrect radio I do think you will get much business here. Or maybe list them in the parts for sale section with a photo attached to help it sell at that price. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 Wes.....I don't quite get it......you have a fan and defroster system..... but no heater? How does that work? Does it get warm, or just blow cold air? I would think you could use a heater with blower and defroster outlets like this one in my P15. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 Fred its almost as cold here. Today high of 0 tonight -14 with windchill into the minus 30s. We are getting about the same here. Was about 4 degrees this AM and going up to around 18 or 20. Supposed to be even colder tomorrow. Only supposed to be 2 degrees above tomorrow at game time between the Green Bay Packers and the NY Giants at Green Bay, with windchill of about 15 - 25 below. By the end of the game after the Packers win the temperature is supposed to be between 8 and 10 below, windchills could dip to 35 below. Quote
Young Ed Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 I'm hoping for the Packers too. The viqueens will never get anywhere so might as well go for a neighboring team. I think the cold will probably help the packers too. Brett is used to it. Quote
Normspeed Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 Down here in SoCal it's cold by our standards, maybe down in the 40's in the morning. I'm still riding the motorsickle to the train station daily. This morning's news they were talking about a "Siberian Express" pushing really cold air south. They expect every state except CA and NM to be affected. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 why can't you folks up north just stay there and keep your cold weather whil you are at it..due to your encroaching weather it is not looking good on the home front for finishing my barn up this Saturday..&%^(#@$ Quote

The viqueens will never get anywhere so might as well go for a neighboring team. I think the cold will probably help the packers too. Brett is used to it. Ed, I guess from what I've heard Manning doesn't do well in the cold, so that's a plus for the Packers. Also, even though the Packers have an indoor practice field, they are using the outdoor field for practice to help condition for the cold. Believe it or not, last night they also said they will be on the field without sleeves on when they come out for the game tomorrow. No offense to those who might be going. But..........the tickets are ranging between $300 to $400 up to about $1300 each. No way I'd pay that kind of money to watch a game, especially in that kind of weather and then have to sit on a metal bleacher to watch it. I will be home watching it where it's nice and warm. You couldn't pay me enough to sit out there for 3 hours watching any ball game. Quote

Just like the good minister/father or paster says in church. "It is better to give than to receive." Enjoy. Quote
Normspeed Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 Tim, would you need to pull a permit to build a big igloo? Quote
55 Fargo Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 Tim, don't let the cold get you down for building. Up here they pour concrete dig basement, frame buildings, do roofing till its -20, and I am not kidding either. When they dig a basement in the cold the ground is just steaming once they get through the frost layer. Construction usually is done outdoors year round, but when the temp is below -10 to -20 , they usually shut down, especially with high windchills values. But construction down to 0 or -10 goes on all the time, even excavating. Tim, you need insulated coveralls, a warm thermo cup of coffee, a small fire burning in a steel barrel, and gloves with the fingers cut out, you be fine..............................LOL Fred Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 its the rain that chills me to the bone..if no rain..will be running the metal in the morning..in not then we still have two more days this weekend to get er done...going to have a outside fire if needed and coffee and pot of home made chili and fresh baked cornbread at lunch... Quote
Young Ed Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 Same here Fred. They build pretty much year round. Down the street from the office here they are building a restaurant and a bank. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 Tim, would you need to pull a permit to build a big igloo? if the structure would be larger than 200 sq ft then code says yes... Quote

Tim, a little rain is not bad. Just think you could have something like this to clean up before you build. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 its beautiful..but I lave learned to suffer here in the south....we for the most part are not ever "shut" down by weather....I do however respect rain delays...misting..ok..but rain..momma taught me how to get in doors during these brief periods. First off, I really have no idea how much this stuff is worth, that is why I said to make an offer! and let me know if you are interested! As for the radio, it is not an 'incorrect' radio, folks on here have already said that they have one like it, it is a Motorola 505 radio, so, it is not an 'incorrect' radio, plus it is from a 1948 Dodge! and I am not here for 'buisness' either, I had some extra Dodge stuff that I can't use so, I thought someone might be interested, I am open to trades to, for specific parts for my '41. As for the photos, I have not figured out how to post them, and if someone is serious and wants something I can e-mail them pics. Quote

Well won't debate the radio I am no expert but I do not think it was offered with the 48 Dodge perhaps the 41 but more likely a after market item. I guess you are new to these vehicles so do not know the cost I should have figured that when I saw your prices 200 for a rear,200 for radio ,150 heater. Unless the items are a 1st class rebuild they will not be near your price and you will see most here offer items at a reduced cost or even free to others on the forum. And use ebay or other classifieds to make a profit or sell a item that you paid too much for. Posting photos can be uploaded if not too large or linked if they are somewhere on the internet. 1941Dodge Posted January 19, 2008 Author Report Posted January 19, 2008 Well, I am not exactly new to the Dodge's as I have owned mine for 4 years and it has been in my family for 53 years! I have been unable to find any value for the stuff, and I don't want some joker to offer me 5 bucks for something! Because I know that most car parts that are small are worth in good condition usually between 50 and 100, heck, at andy bernbaum, you can't even get weather stripping for that! LOL! So, there is not anyway to attach the pics. directly from the computer? Quote
55 Fargo Posted January 19, 2008 Report Posted January 19, 2008 Wesley, I did PM you about posting pics. If you want to upload them from your own PC, you have to make sure the Jpgs are smaller than 100 kb. You then go to manage attachments, browse through your pics and upload them to your post, it should appear as a thumbnail, try that and see how it goes. Quote
