DavidJose1 Posted July 4, 2023 Report Posted July 4, 2023 Please help, trying g to get LED light wired up for tail lights/brake lights and blinkers and don’t know back sizes or if there is a resource that I can get all this stuff pre-done and not have to find parts to replace or fabricate Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted July 4, 2023 Report Posted July 4, 2023 led bulbs for this are available for plug and play 6 or 12 VDC....you will likely need a ballast for the t/s to function or at minimum an electronic flasher.....many cars today have electronic flashers stock and easy to glean at a local wrecking yard or order from you favorite friendly but may have to have deeper pockets. If you are not familiar with automotive wiring you need to do a bit of research and read a few white papers, nothing hard at all about it, read a bit to get up to speed.....tons of information already for you to read without writing another here. 1 Quote
DavidJose1 Posted July 4, 2023 Author Report Posted July 4, 2023 I bought a special turn switch with relay and headlight pull switch from speedway will have to wire it! If there is plug and play that will work with back lights and blinkers I need it bad and for the front blinkers Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted July 4, 2023 Report Posted July 4, 2023 surely your purchases came with some sort of instructions.....if not from Speedway, maybe the model name and number off the units themselves will provide some information via an internet search.... Quote
DavidJose1 Posted July 4, 2023 Author Report Posted July 4, 2023 I just need to know if there was a specific bulb that’s LED hat will perfectly match my old ones as I don’t have any lights or wiring for the old in the car Quote
Sniper Posted July 4, 2023 Report Posted July 4, 2023 The service manual will give you the bulb numbers for the various lights. All you need to do is find an LED version of that number. For example, a very common tail light / stop light bulb in 12v cars is an 1157. There are a bunch of LED 1157 bulbs out there. One word of caution, it is doubtful that Speedway kit you bought was designed for 6v applications. Which means if you are going to keep a 6v system the wire will be undersized. If it is just running LED bulb and no other electrical loads it'll likely be ok though. If you are going to swap to a 12v system, then those bulb numbers in the manual will be useless, they are 6v bulbs. There are 12v equivalents though. Quote
desoto1939 Posted July 4, 2023 Report Posted July 4, 2023 In my 39 Desoto 6 volt system I have the Autostat optiona turnsignal assembly. I also use the 1158 dual filment bulb in my taillight and brakelight turnsignal bulb. Remember 1158 is a 6 olt bulb. Quote

I already run 12 volts and it’s crazy exactly what you said is true! Thank you so much as I found that size in led Quote
