I would like some feed back please.

I am working on a 1950 Dodge with a Gyromatic transmission. The carb. Is a Stromberg BXVES-3.

Have any of you removed the lead plus to clean all the transfer passages and the blind holes?

I have a donor carb to test with BXVD-3, looks to have the same body ( plugs in the same location ).

Thank you all for your input and suggestions.

Removed the lead?  Do you mean removed the leaded gas?

I think he means the plugs- but are they lead or aluminum?

I have heard of folks drilling out the lead plugs and I believe Mike’s Carburetor has the replacements.

However, I really like my ultrasonic cleaner. It does a surprisingly good job of removing crud.

If I were doing a rebuild I would see whats available then proceed.

There’s no reason you can’t bring one up to like new standards.

I just used carb cleaner on my carburetor and blew out the jets and holes with compressed air.  I just check my accelerator pump and I now have a strong stream!

Just waiting to get my starter back so I can continue tuning up the engine.

I thank you all for your input.

after reading I have one more question that may need a new posting.

There is a valve in the air horn called, “Carburetor vacuum economize piston” my parts book shows  P/N 698 891 from section 14-46-1

I have not found any information  in my repair Manuel on how to remove it.

Mike’s and Andy’s do not have this part.

More help please.

ps

my first post on this should have been PLUGS and not PLUS.

With some more research I have found that that brass bolt around that piston unscrews .

Tim at Daytona parts he helped me , also told me no one has that part.
