meezy Posted September 2, 2022 Report Posted September 2, 2022 Good afternoon. I have traced a significant oil leak to where the speedo cable screws into the tranny. I'm not really sure what's wrong... What is the most common culprit here? What is the most likely part name or number that I need to replace? Thanks y'all. Quote
Sniper Posted September 2, 2022 Report Posted September 2, 2022 If we assume it's the 50 Plymouth you list as your project car there is a seal between the speedometer pinion and sleeve, as the parts book calls it. The sleeve is what your speedometer cable screws onto. The seal is 1134156, good luck finding one. Some have stated Honda 91204-HB3-004 works in it's place. I have no direct knowledge of that. Quote
meezy Posted September 3, 2022 Author Report Posted September 3, 2022 Yes - it's for my 1950 Plymouth and, yep, that's the thing I must be looking for. Thank you for your specific answer. Much appreciated. Quote

I have used the Honda seal with great success on my 52 Cranbrook. Quote
meezy Posted September 5, 2022 Author Report Posted September 5, 2022 Thank you, DJK. I thought I'd give it a shot and went ahead and ordered one the same day Sniper posted about it. Will have it by Wednsday. 1 Quote
