Plymouthy Adams Posted March 18, 2022 Report Posted March 18, 2022 and this is not to laugh....I am a member of Hoarder Anon. well, at least I should be. Upstairs of the shop putting a bit of arrangement to the chaos and came across a small bag of lug nut cover caps I held in reserve should I ever lose on the Porsche. Flash forward, sold the car long ago, found it after about 28 years gone...bought it back...one of the lug nut caps is missing....so it pays to hold onto stuff.......this phenom is the hoarder's creedo...I am not or ever been in denial or defense...don't have time for non-believers...!!! Little ramble on a coffee break as I cannot stay focused long on cleaning before taking a break. 2 3 Quote
Eneto-55 Posted March 20, 2022 Report Posted March 20, 2022 I can in theory understand the "need" to get rid of some stuff. But when faced with the actual thing in my hand, at the point of decision, I always remember the times when I DID get rid of something, and how long I searched for it later, when I found the need of that exact piece of hardware or whatever. (And the remorse when I either remembered having thrown it out, or concluded that I must have. But then occasionally I find it months or years later.) Quote
Dan Hiebert Posted March 21, 2022 Report Posted March 21, 2022 If we hadn't moved every 5-6 years when I was working, I'd be a shoe-in for Plymouthy's HA club. We always had a household goods weight limit of 18,000 lbs. when we moved, which was alarmingly easy to reach with the eclectic stuff we "collect". (Anything over, we had to pay an exorbitant amount for, which we couldn't afford.) As it is, the missus is actually worse (better?) at it than I. At least I've learned to "collect" stuff I may actually use...eventually...hopefully...maybe. But, now that we've put roots down where serviceable old car stuff is hard to find, I've been going back to working on my hoard...er...equipment stores. Quote
Tooljunkie Posted March 22, 2022 Report Posted March 22, 2022 I’m not a hoarder, I’m a collector. And after many years i have started using the items i have accumulated. I started organizing my saved hardware, and it has prevented many trips to town for that single bolt i needed to finish something. Due to the many outbuildings,i have tons of bits and pieces. The wife is fine with it,but it wont be long and i will need to start downsizing. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted April 19, 2022 Author Report Posted April 19, 2022 Well, I have determined that I absolutely am not a hoarder, I got a brochure in the mail concerning the cause and effect of hoarding and I was able to toss this in the trash without a second thought whatsoever.... 2 1 Quote
