I’m in the process of re wiring my 1940 1/2 ton, and I was able to get an original dome light from a parts truck nearby.

A couple of questions regarding the dome light. Can someone share a photo of where the dome light should be located in the headliner? I’m guessing it would either go dead Center, or center Ed but back towards the rear window.

And secondly, where should I take power from to run up the A pillar and above the headliner to power the dome light?

You mean you didn't take enough headliner with it for a pattern :) I did that when I found mine so I can't guarantee it's exact but it was back towards the window not centered front to back. My truck doesn't come out of storage for about 3 weeks but I can measure then.

I thought mine had 2 screws holding the box in place on the cab (tabs). I’ll have to look, I need to change the bulb anyway or lost ground. Power fed by up through left Pilar.  Can be ran a few ways I suppose.

So I just took out (4) screws. I was incorrect on the prior post.  Cant get the picture to spin 180 degrees and it is centered, parallel to the window.

Feels like metal tabs on the backside of head liner. I can’t see them but was solid trying to bust flat head screws lose. I believe this head liner had to have been changed maybe back in the late 70- early 80’s. Was before Phillips was used as I have been changing all screws to stainless the last few years.

If you’re putting in a new head liner, I would seriously think about relocating the switch right by the rear drivers door post, that’s what I’m doing, that way you don’t have to reach all the way in and up there in the dark trying to find it, very very handy right there by your left ear.
