j51valencia
I bought a 1946 dodge business coupe body. I know 1946-1948 were pretty much the same as far as changing body parts within those years but when did the fender and frame change? I'm looking for the fenders and frame and was wondering if I could use a 1949 fenders and frame to put on there Edited December 15, 2021 by j51valencia
MarcDeSoto
By 1949, are you talking about a D-24 Dodge or the new D-29, D-30 Dodge? The new 49 Dodge will not fit your 46. I think the D-24 Dodge will fit.
Doug&Deb
Agreed. 46 through early 49 are identical.
Dan Hiebert
Yep, "First series" 1949 Dodges are the same as '46-'48. Easy enough to determine, they are still D24, and they look the same.
grady hawkins
The title for my D-24 coupe was 1949. Back in the day the new car models came out in January but the new Dodge model was not ready. This resulted in making D-24 models into January 1949
thebelvedereman
1946 until mid-year 1949 are the same body and the same fenders, the second half of 1949 they changed to the new body style and everything is different
MarcDeSoto
I know with my DeSoto in late 1947 they got the new 15" wheels with balloon tires and they made the front fenders a little fatter, which also made the front fender moldings a little wider. This was so the new fat tires wouldn't scrape the fenders. I don't know if this is true with Dodge. I have a 47 Dodge Parts Book, which probably came out before the change.

True post war models have fatter fenders but 15x7.50 was also standard on 1940-42 Chrysler 8 and optional trim for 6 cyl.
