Your shifter will fit on this transmission and in your truck, if you need a transmission. Assuming your truck is a 3 speed

My 3 speed is a top shifter and my steering column has no shifter lever.    Could I remove top from this transmission and install my top load shifter and install in truck?

Fits and works fine. My '51 was a column shift and has been converted to a floor shift by adding an early model top shifter.

I did the same thing. It was a fluke that my parts truck had a floor shift. My column shift was not in good condition, somewhat of a battle to drive.

I have a similar transmission decoding question. My truck is a 1941 WC. I have always assumed that the engine was from a 51 Plymouth because both the head and block have casting dates in December of 1950 and there is a “P” on the cylinder head. The block serial number is tough to read but looks like TDA 14070. The transmission has part numbers 2B13-1, 35651 and a Diamond shape with a large "S." Do these part numbers indicate that it is original to the truck? Original to the engine? Or something else?

Thanks & happy holiday’s,

Greg

Woah....this is deja vu as I was going to ask that exact same question! You can see my other thread on a bombardier ram skidder. It is a 2 speed tranny plus reverse. I have that exact tranny and would love to know what it is. The shift is L N H, using the side lever, and once in neutral you can pull the top lever forward and it will allow you to use the side lever to engage reverse. I popped the top off mine for an inspection and it was nice and clean inside.

Is your transmission a 3 speed floor shift with the floor handbrake lever? If so then it is probably the original truck transmission with a car engine. The last year for floor shifter in a car was 1938 and they are completly different than the truck trans.

That is a 3 speed tranny. The top lever allows you shift the side lever between reverse and 1st, then release and lever shifts between 2nd and direct (3rd).

I dont disagree, but it did not make sense when I opened it up. Any idea what model it is?

That type of trans, top cover, 3 spd, is common to a lot of 50s Dodge pickups.  Looking it up in my Hollander there is almost a full column of source vehicles.  Dodge and Ford trucks are the worst for finding that in a Hollander since everything is listed by series and/or mode. numeber.  So delivery vans, trucks, pickups etc all generate a list item.  And I'm not well versed in those model IDs.
