fireguyfire Posted November 11, 2021 Author Report Posted November 11, 2021 A couple of more questions regarding this 1940 that I have as I give her a clean up. what colour were the steel rims originally? On searching I see black, but I also see body colour. And searching old photos, I notice that some trucks have black fenders and step ups, while others (like mine) were clearly body colour. was this a paint option? Quote
JBNeal Posted November 13, 2021 Report Posted November 13, 2021 Dodge cranked out special orders on occasion to customer specifications, so custom paint schemes are a distinct possibility, such as body color fenders and wheels. Quote
Pete Posted November 13, 2021 Report Posted November 13, 2021 On my 1938 Dodge pickup the default was black fenders and running boards. Body color fenders were an extra cost option. Pete Quote
fireguyfire Posted November 13, 2021 Author Report Posted November 13, 2021 Thanks guys. if anyone has a parts truck out there, I will be needing a few things like control cables and switches for the bottom middle of the dash, and the removable floor plate; the shifter top was behind the seat, so I’m assuming someone removed the floor plate and then the shifter to take a look at something, and then never got back to it. im also needing a rear bumper. Young Ed Posted November 13, 2021 Report Posted November 13, 2021 The transmission cover is just plywood. I think the venders do sell them but you can make one pretty easily. Finding good knobs is almost impossible. New ones are available from DCM. They also have reproduction rear bumpers. Quote
