I got a 1950 Chrysler Windsor ,and I dont know if if would be best to part it out and sell on Ebay  or sell it as is. The person I got it from did alot of restoration on it , runs

great ,but it does have a transmission problem. It wont go into 1st gear,it acts like there is something blocking it .Will it bring better money parting it out on Ebay?

For starters where is it and how much would you like to get for it?

Perhaps a photo or two would be nice.

Obvious point, maybe, but does it have the Prestomatic transmission? (The semi-automatic.) No "first" position like a normal 3 on the tree on those.

Note the description of the shift pattern and selecting the high gear position for normal driving.  Lo range is not necessary for daily driving situations.  You might use it to pull your garage off it's foundation or remove tree stumps. Otherwise select high range and drive like a analog power glide.  Using the gas and brake pedal only. Except when selecting reverse or high.  Other note unless the engine is running there is no compression  braking.  As such assure your braking brake is functional or carry wheel chocks.  Take it slow and be patient, there is a learning curve here grasshopper.  Go to allpar.com, use the search button to search transmissions then read the section on semi automatic or M6 several times.

The Hydraulically Operated two  range Prestomatic transmission has a low range...(push shifter upwards) and has a Driving range...pull lever down.

The are two gears in each range..1st &2nd gears in low and 3rd and 4th gears in driving range. Hydraulically shifted.

Doubt you would do well parting it out on ebay unless the chrome parts are in excellent condition....drive train parts, body sheet metal not worth much at all and $$$ to ship.

Post pics of the car here....let's see it.

Hey if you want to go fishing and see if your parts have any value, BUY A CLASSIFIED FOR SALE AD for $4.99 !

We don't have many rules (No political, religious topics and ads belong in the Classified section.) That's It!

At the top of every forum is a big reminder about posting ads and to use the Classified section for ads.

It's not fair the moderators have waste time to deal with this stuff so don't do it.
