Personally I run 10w40 in all my stuff and have over 20k miles on my 48 coupe with no sign of a drop in oil pressure Yes good question, was rebuilt done at local chevy V8 machine shop, or did they actually get specs form manual. You write about oil pressure, it's not about that. It's about wear and tear, the critical first 15 min during warmup. Tight tolerances = thin oil weight Greater tolerances = heavier weight Ok I give up. Seems people's reactions are based on feelings instead of logic. LOL 1 Quote

It's the first 10-15 min or so it's essential it receives correct lubrication for bearing etc. These need a friction film. Bearing tolerances are set after oil weight. Now we are only talking about cold start. Our engines need 30w when cold, anything thinner is metal rubbing against metal. They had other oil weight. Harley Davidsons from same era run only on 50W. That's how they are designed. ours are for 30W It really doesn't work that way. Lube is lube, and the quicker your engine gets the lube, the less wear it will receive. As for Harley's, I happen to know a thing or two about them, having build and ridden knuckleheads, panheads, and shovelheads. The one I have now is the only one that didn't come home in boxes missing a bunch of parts. Comparing the needs of air-cooled engines to water cooled engines is apples and oranges. Quote

Don't know how.much traffic it gets but there may be some resources and info for convertible specific issues. Welcome, enjoy your ride. Quote
