Grease/Lubricating rear leaf springs ‘50 Plymouth .

I have few squeaking noises coming from underneath the car when driving so I wanted to grease all the points to see if this helps, I have been looking in the manual at how to do the rear leaf springs, I am little confused as to how to tackle this.

 

 I’ve attached a couple of pics to show the coverings wrapped around them, can anyone help me with how to grease and lubricate these and what they use to do it.  Is it a lubricant spray best to use or regular grease.

On the trucks, I put about 750 lbs of big rocks in the bed and drive down a lumpy road for several days...that extra weight over the rear axle limbers up the springs nicely, and with the weight removed, the squeaking almost completely goes away.

Looks like cleaning up rear suspension components would be a good start.Grease is fed into leaf springs using a special tool which fits into holes in the spring covers which are presently covered in some pretty nasty stuff in your case. The tool looks like a screw clamp with a grease zert on it so you can put a grease gun to it. This tool turns up on line once in a while. BTW welcome to the site. M

I remember Dad greasing our 49 Plymouth back in the 50s.  Lacking the tool, he could get the grease in by just holding the grease gun against the hole, really tight, think pushing with all his weight. 

 

But, first comes the clean up and finding the holes.
