Rodney_Hamon Posted April 25, 2021 Author Report Posted April 25, 2021 Success. I carefully cleaned the splines with a long metal nail file, a small long screw driver, and q-tips soaked in 3-in-one oil. It slipped in with a bit of palm tapping and that seemed about as tight as it was when I initially removed it. GL-1 filled and I will start the truck next week to look for leaks before install of drive line. Never did feel burrs or saw any crud. It’s a mystery and I guess the truck just wants to talk to me. Dodgeb4ya Posted April 26, 2021 Report Posted April 26, 2021 (edited) Tight fit of re-installing yokes and hubs is a very common issue when removing said parts..slight machining discreptancies is the reason .... Always mark the hub to shaft so you put it on exactly like it was....then it would have slid on as easily as it slid off. I always use a prick punch to mark the hubs/yokes to splined shafts when doing that type of R&R work. Yes you also can spend plenty of time deburring parts if you like too.
