'46 Chrysler Royal interior

Hi,

I am redoing my '46 Chrysler interior. I am using it as a daily driver coming up this spring. The interior is tan with brown carpet. The seat upholstery is in acceptable condition. What was the original carpet ie the name and pile? Is there a good source for ready made carpet that is correct? The headliner is no good as well; is there a source for good pre made headliners? Also, my door panels, trunk mats and kick panels need replacing. Is there a source for tan door panels already done? Is there a source for kick panels and rubber trunk mats? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Robt

I'm not an expert, but I think LeBaron Bonney just went out of business.  They made Ford interiors I think.  I can probably tell you that there is no such thing as ready made 1946 Chrysler interiors.  Model A's maybe, but Chrysler?  If there were ready made 46-48 Chrysler interiors, they would be out of business fast for lack of enough orders.  I'm in the same boat.  I need new upholstery for my 48 DeSoto.  Your seats look pretty good in the photos.  It will be very expensive to replace it with factory quality upholstery.  I've heard that upholstery jobs that are true to the originals are six to eight thousand.  I think Chrysler used a type of carpeting called hogshair.

I don't think anyone makes interior kits for 1946-48 Chrysler's...The carpet was hogshair with a sparse white fleck through it.

Bill Hirsch use to sell it...not sure if anymore..

The lower line Royal's used a rubber mat in the front floor area....carpet in the back.

Trunk was a woven mat..some models used a rubber mat like in the 3 passenger cpe.

There is a guy selling the trunk woven mats online....either ebay or elsewhere.

No one supplies front rubber floor mats for the 1946-48 Chrysler's.

I think everyone uses carpet as a replacement.

Royal is the only model using rubber front mats.
