I  met a guy that recently purchased a 1948 Plymouth , so I gave him the address for this site so that he might join in . He had a collection of old California license plates including some that were labeled across the top   "  San Francisco Worlds Fair 1939 "   He gave me a 1941 plate , see photo . The 1941 plate is about 2 inches wider than a modern plate .

and why I defined the agreement and standardization as being between the US, Mexico and Canada.....Still lots of old world influence within their borders.

Those territories are part of the US still.

Puerto Rico has the same size license plates as the US.  I believe Guam does as well, it used to anyway, my Uncle was stationed there during the Vietnam war and has a license plate as a memento.
