53 Pilot Posted July 24, 2020 Report Posted July 24, 2020 Took off my carburetor to clean it and now can not figure out how to reconnect linkage. It seems I am missing a part. Anyone have a picture or drawing showing how this carburator linkage is supposed to be put together? I believe I know where one side of the short piece is to connect (see arrow) but not the other end. Quote
Los_Control Posted July 24, 2020 Report Posted July 24, 2020 Bad photo, but you can see the connection you are concerned with, on mine it is on the same side and below the throttle cable bracket., then goes up to the carb. Yours is on top and on the other side. We also have different years, I have a late 1949 with 1950 motor/trans ... you have 1953. On your 2nd photo with a arrow to the linkage. is also a small spring ... I do not have that either. I do not know if our linkage is different, our carbs or choke is different. I am saying one is not like the other, I am not expert enough, to tell you why your arm is in a different position in then my arm. Quote
9 foot box Posted July 25, 2020 Report Posted July 25, 2020 The hole with the arrow would have a rod that connects to a lever at the throttle plate linkage. It is for fast idle and your carb doesn’t use it. The short link connects the accelerator pump to the throttle linkage in the middle hole, for summer driving. The inner hole is for high altitude or extremely hot weather, the outboard hole is for winter operation. I would install it with the bend out towards the engine. Quote

53 Pilot Posted July 26, 2020 Author Report Posted July 26, 2020 Thanks to everyone who responded. 9 ft box can you help me identify where in my pictures the short linkage connects? Quote
9 foot box Posted July 27, 2020 Report Posted July 27, 2020 (edited) I just took a couple pictures, but the flash drive is slow to respond. The link connects the throttle shaft and arm assembly #48 to the link-pump connector #18. It’s under the float bowl at the front of the carb. I will get you a picture, eventually. The link is #16 link-pump operating. That’s from a Walker 15021B kit parts list and instruction sheet. I’m guessing that you don’t have a service or shop manual yet. I’ll edit with pictures when I can. My P15’s have the dog-throttle shaft #5 and the rod-choke connector #6. Truck carb’s don’t have the dog, the upper hole at the choke isn’t used.
