rugbyjon112 Posted July 8, 2020 Report Posted July 8, 2020 Does anyone have any information on this mirror? Trying to figure out if it was a dealer upgrade or later addition Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted July 8, 2020 Report Posted July 8, 2020 Hmmmm. Don't recall ever seeing a mirror just like this. The clamp part looks old. Did that vertical section on outer edge have mirror in it also? Quote
rugbyjon112 Posted July 8, 2020 Author Report Posted July 8, 2020 BobT-47P15 - the outer section is a thermometer. For some reason when I uploaded the photo it turned it sideways. The section you’re referring to is actually the top section of the mirror. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted July 8, 2020 Report Posted July 8, 2020 being a clip on style mirror with a built in thermometer, sounds very aftermarket to me...can we say, Western Auto or similar magazine ad sale Quote
desoto1939 Posted July 8, 2020 Report Posted July 8, 2020 most clamp on side rear view mirrors were after market items but you could get these items from your car dealser as an extra add on. Have never seen this style so would think after market. Rich Hartung Quote
rugbyjon112 Posted July 9, 2020 Author Report Posted July 9, 2020 Am I to understand that side view mirrors were not standard equipment, but a dealer added option? Quote
greg g Posted July 9, 2020 Report Posted July 9, 2020 There was an option for side view mirrors incorporated into the little piece of cowl trim on P15s. I believe you could order Swan Necked style mounted through a hole in the doors, but most I have noticed till 53 54 were clip ons and mostly after market. Side mirrors were pretty much optional especially passenger side. So very few from the factory, many as dealer installed, and a whole bunch of after market. Quote
