Hickory Posted January 5, 2020 Report Posted January 5, 2020 Has anyone made their.own door panels. Maybe some pictures of the process and finished product. I'm trying to get some ideas. Quote
Sniper Posted January 5, 2020 Report Posted January 5, 2020 I just watched some videos on this, it was very interesting. Here's the link Quote
Hickory Posted January 7, 2020 Author Report Posted January 7, 2020 That's the same one that I've watched, good technique. I'm looking for some ideas so they aren't plain Jane but not the gaudy flames and hotrod stuff. I think I'm going to try some real wood inlays with the Chrysler chrome script glued on to it Quote
Sniper Posted January 7, 2020 Report Posted January 7, 2020 He has a ton of other videos, some of them on how to make 3D panels. Quote
Hickory Posted January 29, 2020 Author Report Posted January 29, 2020 So I started building the panels Quote
greg g Posted January 29, 2020 Report Posted January 29, 2020 Made our own a few years back. Had enough of the originals for templates. Need to find a pic or two. Quote
greg g Posted January 30, 2020 Report Posted January 30, 2020 Can't find my pics. We bought backer board from an auto upholstery shop. Used two glued on layers of cotton batting and fabric that we used to make seat covers. Got it in the clearance bin at Jo Ann's fabric. Then stapled the fabric top and bottom to the backer board. Then put a 8 inch high leatheret on the bottom. No elbow rest in the deluxe. We we re going to stick in some detail but decided against it. Biggest pain was folding over the ends of the sraples that went through the backer board. On the top of the cards mind where you put the Staples so that the window garnishes cover then when installed. Quote
DJK Posted January 30, 2020 Report Posted January 30, 2020 (edited) Does anyone have the brand name and part # for the wire door panel clips that he used in the video? (Luckey Needle) Edited January 30, 2020 by DJK clarification Quote
Sniper Posted January 30, 2020 Report Posted January 30, 2020 I had it at one point https://www.albrightssupply.com/trim-panel-fastener-p/av808.htm Quote
DJK Posted January 30, 2020 Report Posted January 30, 2020 Thanks Sniper, I googled it and it took me to the video which gave the info where to order them. I'll have plenty if anyone needs any. they look a lot easier to use than the original clips. Quote
