1949P17BC
Pretty soon the Plymouths will hit the road. Lots of activities planned. The Happy Gate is still on and open to everyone. A party isn't complete unless you have a grill, so I am bringing a weber grill to make some smoke. I am sure on Friday we can all figure out what we want to do. See you next week. bob_amos
Well, I hope that you have as much fun as we did at the National in May. California was great at that time of year.
Plymouthy Adams
I will not mention names, model of car etc etc but say a couple of the POC cars at the Charlotte show...definitely not your hands-on represented today...Who do I make this check out to??? Don't get me wrong..there are those who know what they can and cannot do..and in some cases this is a good thing..just not my thing...same here local withthe Britsh car club...I like talking more about the cars than the amount I just wrote the last check for.... greg g
If yer talking about enlisting in the POC. they will take your national membership at the registration table. Just looked at mine and it lapsed a week or so ago, so I will renew my Plymouth Bulletin at the reg table.
vanbuskirk
We left yesterday morning and drove south to Lexington, KY and then east thruough Matewan, WV where there are still Hatfields and McCoys. Then we took a twisty US 52 across West Virginia coal country, including a stop in McDowell County, home of the Rocket Boys of October Sky (anagram of Rocket Boys) movie fame. http://www.wonderfulwv.com/archives/march99/fea2.cfm Then, just as we were about to shut down for the day, while driving on I-77, the headlights went out. It was scary. Fortunately, traffic was light. Using the light from the turn signal, I exited the highway, to find a lighted parking lot, where I could replace the blown fuse. Today, we are driving across southern Virginia on US 58. We will be near the Outer Banks by late afternoon. I curbed a whitewall, parking the car at this library near Danville, Va. We will see many of you on Friday. Bob
greg g
Ah that pesky long 30 amp fuse!!!! Remember it well. I have several in the traveling kit. Have fun Looking forward to seeing you and Wanda again. Travel well. Say hello to the dolphins for us.
Plymouthy Adams
Matewan Bloody Matewan..you ought to read the story...talk about an adventure that not only tied in the Hatfields and McCoys but mine owners, Federal Troops, private security companies to stifle the miners and prevent unions...My grandmothers on my dads side is somhow tied into the Hatfield family..she died before I started doing geneology to my great loss...quite a few McCoy familes over the hill from our place in WV. continue on US 52...southern end is Charleston SC...that route I traveled many a time... In the Danville area..did you see the Old Shot Tower?
vanbuskirk
Tim, Missed that tower. I was sobered by the fact that the McDowell County population had dropped from 96,000 in 1950 to 27,000 in 2000. Ieager, WV looks like a ghost town, stopped in time about 1950. People just upped and left. We are on Roanoke Island. We went to the North Carolina Aquarium, where we saw two 7-foot sharks and petted stingrays and thought of Steve Irwin. Gotta buy some more ice before we continue on to Ocracoke. Bob
Don Coatney
Bob; We plan on leaving early Thursday morning. Have to wait until the dog sitter (my sister) arrives. We should be in Kanappolis by 2-3 PM Thursday.
Plymouthy Adams
Was in Kannapolis last weekend..went to Golden Corral for the early bird special...that be the buffet from 1-4PM..get there just before 4 and it is 6.50 all you can eat..I usually do that place twice a year for the swap meets in Charlotte. I can tell you this..traffic was ery bad.. I-85 was backed up on both sides and the main drag through town was bumper to bumper...plus the drizzling rain did not help much. Guest 57plymouth
Leaving this afternoon. I will be detoured by a good buddy's Fellowcraft Masonic degree in Rock Hill this evening, so I will be sliding into the campground late. Better late than never! vanbuskirk
We have driven 300 miles since leaving Ocracoke this morning. We are about 20 miles west of Raleigh, with an ETA of 6PM+. We walked 4 miles in the surf along the ocean beach yesterday. Sand in my shoes and socks. Drove 6 hours in the rain today, but it is dry now. See y'all soon. Jim Saraceno
Hey Mark! I haven't recognized your new screen name since this forum has been changed. I thought you had dropped off. Anyway, is your car a pale yellow? If so, I passed you by at Babler State Park a few weeks ago. If not, there is another old Plymouth in town.
