thebeebe5 Posted June 18, 2018 Report Posted June 18, 2018 Looking at before and after pics of my installed transmission and there’s what appears to be an inspection hole at the top of the bellhousing. But I don’t remember pulling anything out of it before it went to the hot tank.... Maybe I forgot and it dissolved... ? I got the right side screen out and cleaned. Was there some other screen in that hole, or a rubber plug of sorts from the factory? Quote
Merle Coggins Posted June 18, 2018 Report Posted June 18, 2018 (edited) I believe it’s a metal plug, similar to an electrical box knockout plug. Edited June 18, 2018 by Merle Coggins Quote
plymjim Posted June 18, 2018 Report Posted June 18, 2018 It's an aluminum screen similar to the square one on the right side. It has little tabs that fold out to hold it in the bell housing. It's probably still in the bottom of the hot tank. Quote
thebeebe5 Posted June 18, 2018 Author Report Posted June 18, 2018 Lol. Probably. I guess I’ll be using a rubber plug, because it definitely went to the hot tank. ? dammit. Quote
Don Coatney Posted June 18, 2018 Report Posted June 18, 2018 This is what they look like on a P-15. Quote
thebeebe5 Posted June 18, 2018 Author Report Posted June 18, 2018 Any chance something like this is available aftermarket? Doubting I’ll find one.... @Don Coatney Quote
JBNeal Posted June 18, 2018 Report Posted June 18, 2018 How'bout ya get that knockout plug and drill some holes in it... 1 Quote

Thanks for the tip. Calle AMS just now. They have thrm in stock, but they say the measurememnt is 1 3/16”. The hole in my ‘37 bell is 1 11/16”. I may see if the shop that tanked it found anything though it’s been months... otherwise I’ll make something up. Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted June 20, 2018 Report Posted June 20, 2018 I will look again for a different part#.Sorry about that.. Quote

Branded Posted June 20, 2018 Report Posted June 20, 2018 If it’s made of aluminum the caustic solution in the hot tank more than likely dissolved it. Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted June 21, 2018 Report Posted June 21, 2018 (edited) Okay today I looked thru both a 1929-39 Plymouth parts book and a 1936-42 Plymouth parts book.... It's very unclear as to exactly which plug and part # is the one needed... but here you go. see what you can do with these #'s.. P3/P4 and up....661080 upper housing plug All this info from thru 1936-42 Ply parts book 661081 lower "" " The 1929-39 Ply parts book only listed Bell housing plug #660324 Try these parts numbers on a search. Good luck! Edited June 21, 2018 by Dodgeb4ya 2 Quote
