acasey64 Posted April 23, 2018 Report Posted April 23, 2018 I will be putting the head back on my 1949 Chrysler Windsor 6 Cylinder. I bought new head bolts and gasket. I read I should use sealant on the head bolts. Pipe joint compound was recommended. Is Loctite ok for this job? Thanks for any response. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted April 23, 2018 Report Posted April 23, 2018 Loctite brand pipe thread sealant, yes. Loctite thread locker, no. You need to re-torque the head bolts after a heat cycle. Loctite thread locker will not allow that to happen properly. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted April 23, 2018 Report Posted April 23, 2018 (edited) in the manual there is a note for those doing the R&R of cylinder head....do use a bit of sealant on the bolts WITH EXCEPTION to the three head bolts that lead into the intake manifold ports. They caution that the sealant may get drawn into the carb or valves... Edited April 23, 2018 by Plymouthy Adams 1 Quote
RobertKB Posted April 24, 2018 Report Posted April 24, 2018 I used an anti-seize product on any head bolts I have done. Never had a leak................head bolt leak that is. Quote
