Where's a good place to buy brake shoes for my 46 Desoto sedan?  The ones I got from eBay are just a hair too thick to get my front drums on with them adjusted all the way in?

Your shop manual might give the correct thickness dimensions . You might find a local shop that can grind down your new shoes . Some of the guys have had problems when they replaced the wheel cylinders when their new cylinders had pins that were too long and the drum wouldn't go back on .

according to my Wagner brake catalog the correct thickness for the lining is 3/16 for all shoes.  i doubt that someone but the incorrect lining on the shoes since this is a standard thickness.  Might be the pins as suggested above.

How do your drums look? If they are grooved, just turn them to remove the grooves, and you should be in business. After all,if you are putting new brakeshoes on you have to turn them anyhow, what do you have to lose?

If the brakes are too tight after the drums have been turned, you can have the shoes ground down then.
