Not sure how much help this will be,but I had a harmonic balancer for a 54 Olds rebuilt maybe 15 years ago by a guy that advertised that service in Hemmings. Can't remember his name now,but he was doing it out of his home in Raleigh,NC,and he did an excellent job. This one was so bad the center section with the "rubberized" center section with the fluid (teflon?) that bonds the inner and outer rings together was completely gone, and the outer ring was just hanging off the crank snout.

You might also want to check those guys out in the midwest that sell all the Dodge Power Wagon stuff. I'd be surprised if they didn't offer exchange units for flat 6 Mopars.

I think the one I hear people using is the damper doctor. I've not used them personally though.

It will run OK with a regular pulley like Plymouth used.

If you motor has the harmonic balancer then you want to have one on your engine it smooths out the engine. I have one on my 39 Desoto so replace it. The dampener dotoc r rebuilds yours he is not cheap. Also check ebay I think the dampener for the dodge and Desoto might be the same and there was one listed for 39 Desoto around $300 if I remember correctly lister is in Georgia.

Have you checked Andy Bernbaum, Vintage Power Wagons, or Roberts motor Parts? Don't know if they have them, just trying to help.

Update on number and cars:

According to My Tristate  MoPar distrubtor catalog

Ply 42-50 Vibration Dampener with Pulley  869431

Dodge 37-50 dampener with pulley   869431

Desoto 38-42  but not Fluid drive 869431

Chrylser 41-50  With Fluid Drive  869431

So my thinking is that there should be some available. Hope this helps. This is why you need the supportive catalogs.

I spoke with a guy at BHJ in San Francisco two days ago.  They are attempting to machine a LA Balancer to fit onto a flathead application.  He stated that it would have a rev limit of 5800 RPM.  Seemed reasonable to me...

They are making them for the Hudson Flathead..

I did not ask for a price.  This is my last resort should I need this done for me.

I hope that this helps...

Thanks everyone for the advice I will keep looking for someone to rebuild one or find one for sale at a reasonable price or run it without one like dpollo suggested .
