38plymouth Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 I did a search and didn't find what I needed. I also have a shop manual and when I look up the section for valve adjustment, it tells me what to remove to get to them and the clearances and thats it. I want to check them while I have the head, intake and exhaust manifolds off. It has been many years since I have done this and that was on a small block chevy. Can someone explain the procedure or point me to a place that does? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 At the top of the page here you can find a link "Return to P15/D24.com" or maybe this will take you straight there.. http://www40.addr.com/~merc583/mopar/framesets/techtipframeset.html In the Technical Tip section this is all spelled out for you.. Good luck.. Quote
38plymouth Posted July 25, 2007 Author Report Posted July 25, 2007 Thats what I was looking for, I obviously didn't look far enough....Thank You. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 After adjusting the valves and you are kicking back with a coffee/brew (your preferrance) Take a minute to brouse the site..lots of info available. Also cruise through the photos on the members page..lots of nice cars here.. Maybe take aminute and update your profile a bit with a picture of your car..your general location..may have a number of members close by. Quote
JohnS48plm Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 Where do you obtain a go/no go gauge? I'm getting ready to change engines and will need to adjust valves on the rebuilt one. John Quote
Normspeed Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 I got mine from Planet Auto parts on the bay. He has them for under $10 net. Check this item #: 170119401292 Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 Not sure if you have ACE hardware stores in your area but they list one...might be worth checking out whatever hardware store is common to your locale. Even NAPA ought to have something in this line. http://www.acehardware.com/sm-kd-feeler-gauge--pi-1289662.html Quote
Young Ed Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 Wow apparently I've been using those and didn't know it. Now I'm curious what the guys who aren't using these are using? Quote
38plymouth Posted July 26, 2007 Author Report Posted July 26, 2007 I planned to have finished this project already but I had a few problems, my split manifold still hasn't arrived yet (might be here today or tomorrow) and then I threw my back out. I have been trying to do little things but there is no way I can bend over the fender of the car to get much done. I'm supposed to be taking it easy and lay on my back. This sucks, I want to get this together. Quote
JohnS48plm Posted July 27, 2007 Report Posted July 27, 2007 Thanks for the Planet auto parts number, I see he has a lot of them. John Quote
