I saw the internal support idea on UTube, I used four layer corrugated walls and ends and stablized with 1/2 " plywood. In my sleep I figured out how to place the transmission in the box. Maybe this will help someone in the future. The package is 30" L X 12 X 12 and weighs 95 pounds.

Answer to question below. Yes will put a This Side Up on but I don't think it's needed, that tranny is in there very tight.

I shipped the last four in such crates. I was informed ups accepts this. Will find out tomorrow and report back, don't want to encourage unsafe ideas.

Fed X was close by so shipped with them. Weight was 109 lbs, cost $134.00. I explained how it was packaged and was told it would ship ok. Because of its size and weight I was told it would be handled by hand at each transfer station.

So, will find out.

I've noted that how one treats the first person on the chain often has a direct effect upon the next person and that if one asks for help or advice gains mountains of good will, as apposed to "informing" them on how to do things. Fed X has never damaged anything I've shipped with them. We will report back on the arrival condition. The clerk asked if I wanted insurance, I asked her "Is there a reason I should"? I did not insure.

Transmission shipment update. "I got the tranny in good shape the box held up perfect. Thank you I sent a check for $132 this morning."

When I shipped it the eta was the 17th. It arrived on that day. I'm pleased with the service and the packaging method.
