Lou Earle Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 Getting ready to install another engine in my 48 convert. I have this intake and wondering if it would give any improvement on stock engine with dual exhaust? Also does anyone recall what this attached to - in what car? truck? and which carb and linkage fits it to the 48 linkage if any? I had posted this before but cannot find post Lou Quote
greg g Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 Looks like a 2bbl that were listed as an option for 56 Plymouth. There were probably other applications but the 56 application is the most well know. Was supposed to make 132 HP on a 230. the carb was a carter BBR similar to what was used on 273/318's but any 4 bolt 2bbl from an engine of similar size would likely work. Linkage should be as stock if you can find a BBR. Check with Reg Evans as I believe he has one he was planning to use or may already have installed. Quote
Reg Evans Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 Yup...I have one of those manifolds too. ( Down Boy Ed) I have not gotten a round tuit yet ( help Bob T ) but it will eventually get installed in my 38 D8 Coupe. Both carbs pictured require linkage that will pull back to open the throttle. Haven't figured that out yet cause the coupe linkage pushes forward to open the 1 bbl throttle now. Quote
bobby horne Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 My 2V intake came from a 56 Dodge. A 305 chevy 2V fit on it nice. Quote
bobby horne Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 The 2V intake should work alot better than a 1V intake with an adapter. The adapter would act like a funnel. Quote
Young Ed Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 What does everyone but me have one of these intakes??? Quote
Young Ed Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 Lou I think you'd be much better off with a stock 1bbl or 2 of them then that 2bbl intake. You're just asking for trouble Quote
Lou Earle Posted July 12, 2007 Author Report Posted July 12, 2007 What trouble am I asking for? It just seemed to me to be a way to get a little better breathability Lou Quote
Young Ed Posted July 12, 2007 Report Posted July 12, 2007 Lou that was a joke. See the above posts about me wanting one of these intakes. Quote

Dodgeb4ya Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 I parted a couple of 56 Dodges that had the 2 bbl Strombergs on them. Have never run them though so don`t know about the performance of them. Quote
