first off going with poly paint says you will not be in the correct formulae...any newer paint will be a close a match as possible and no mixer will guarantee a spot on for the original...getting close is best they can do..they will mix a small sample batch to a formula they may measure by reflected light or by a color sample you pick out of a book...to do a spot check would be your next move..if satisfied...you buy the correct amount for an overall shoot..

I read on line that the code for the dodge 1948 and 1949 was Ditzler 70002 also called the  same as coke cola red if it I would use that code has anyone else seen that once I got the right code make a sample that match the poly

Spectramaster RS 910 from the Dupont, Nason lineup is an extremely close matchup.  That was matched to a color sanded and buffed section of the back side  of the glove box door.  That's what is on the cab of the truck in this year's invitation to the BBQ.

I couldn't even get a color matched from 1950's paint codes 25 years ago. I did what Tim stated in post #2 based on original color chips out of a book. While browsing through color books at the paint store, you might even come across a color you like more than the original, and go with that (just keep it a secret).
