CowboyConnor Posted February 15, 2016 Report Posted February 15, 2016 Stupid question. Ive got a 1950 special deluxe, how do I know if it is a p19 or a p20? what is the difference? Quote
greg g Posted February 15, 2016 Report Posted February 15, 2016 (edited) P 19's were Deluxes and were built on a 111 inch wheelbase the P20' were built on a 118.5 inch chassis. There were some Deluxe trim cars built on the longer wheelbase but no Special Deluxe had the shorter. I believe the P 20 engine code was used for both variants. So if yours is a Special Deluxe it is a P 20. Edited February 15, 2016 by greg g Quote
JerseyHarold Posted February 15, 2016 Report Posted February 15, 2016 If you have stainless trim around the windshield the car is a Special Deluxe. If not, it's a Deluxe. There were other differences but that's the one I've always used. Harold Quote
rb1949 Posted February 15, 2016 Report Posted February 15, 2016 Joining in with Cowboy, my '49 Chrysler Windsor has: Model Code: 452, Body Type: 6 P Sedan, Engine No: C45-60924. Where do I fit to be in the know? Thanks. Quote
dpollo Posted February 16, 2016 Report Posted February 16, 2016 Here is one you may not have noticed. Deluxe has the dome light switch on the opposite side of the car. (RHS) This is because the Special Deluxe came equipped with a door switch on the passenger front door. There were no Special Deluxes in the P19 series. There was, however a Special Suburban. All P19s used P20 engines. Quote
greg g Posted February 16, 2016 Report Posted February 16, 2016 Chrysler 45s is a Royal, 45w Windsor, other up market cars were 8 cylinders. Quote
TodFitch Posted February 16, 2016 Report Posted February 16, 2016 Serial number on front left (driver) side door hinge post will tell you what car you have. Look up the serial number with the tool on the upper right of my page at http://www.ply33.com/Misc/vin Quote
