Headliner Bow Rubber Grommets

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I am just wondering if anyone knows of a source for replacement rubber grommets for where the headliner bows fit. This is for my '51 Dodge business coupe. I know the grommets in the '53/54 Plymouths have a slightly smaller centre and will not work. Just wondering if there is a source for these or if anyone has found something else that will work as a suitable replacement. I have looked in the catalogues of Restoration Specialties and Steele Rubber but cannot see anything that will work. The ones in the car now are either damaged or rock hard and should be replaced.

Any help appreciated and thanks in advance. Pictures show what I am looking for.

Had the same problem with missing/wasted grommets.

Went to the hardware store with the measurements for the bigger hole and dia. of the headliner bows and found some very close in their grommet draws.

Asked my headliner upholster if they were ok and his reply was no problems!

So happy hunting.

I needed replacement headliner bow grommets for my P15. I found what I needed on the McMaster-Carr website, and they worked just fine. Just measure your old ones. They should have a replacement that's close enough.

I believe someone way back was using tire valve stems with the stem cut off

Try "Metro Molded Parts"  They have a list of universal parts.  But I think you could find something at a hardware store for less money.  Nobody's going to check your grommets.

Thanks for all the replies. I am going to check out some of the suggestions and if I meet with success, I will post the result.
