HanksB3B Posted October 30, 2015 Report Posted October 30, 2015 (edited) You need to know your engine number to find the correct Distributor Number for your truck. The Part Manual seems kind of cryptic when it comes to an actual part number (unless I don't know how to read it) Does anyone know part numbers for the 1AT series distributors ? Don ??? Anyone ??? Thanks, Hank P.S. at $1.15, I'll take ten... Edited October 30, 2015 by HanksB3B Quote
Merle Coggins Posted October 30, 2015 Report Posted October 30, 2015 The Part number is right on your distributor tag. Quote

These are set at the factory with the right number of washers and they should be replaced in the same order into the new unit. I can report a much better running truck. It idles smooth, pulls hard even at low throttle and coming off higher rpms, it settles into a idle easy with out fear of sputtering or cutting out. My leak is now either in a perished intake gasket or in the valve guides. 1 Quote

These are set at the factory with the right number of washers and they should be replaced in the same order into the new unit. That is not always the case. To do it correctly find the curve numbers for your distributor vacuum advance and adjust accordingly using a vacuum generator. Curve numbers read X number of degrees at X inches of mercury and full in at X degrees at X inches of mercury. Use a vacuum generator such as pictured below. Quote
