Mr.Yuck Posted September 27, 2015 Report Posted September 27, 2015 Hey anybody know if these are the stock brakes for a 51 1/2 ton? As you can see somebody swapped out the drums w/ a later model 5x4.3/4. Just wonder where I can get shoes for this...as you can see these are spent! I've never seen shoes that far gone before. The drum has 98 stamped in it, there is no part # on the wheel cylinder. Thanks, Jeff Quote
Mlindblom Posted September 27, 2015 Report Posted September 27, 2015 You can get the shoes relined and arc'd to fit the drums. Look up your local brake and clutch warehouse. Or there are a few places that will do them via mail or ups. Quote
Mr.Yuck Posted September 27, 2015 Author Report Posted September 27, 2015 thanks I'll look into it. Quote
Don Coatney Posted September 27, 2015 Report Posted September 27, 2015 These folks can re-line your brake shoes. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted September 28, 2015 Report Posted September 28, 2015 It looks like a 3/4 ton 5 X 5" drum with wheel studs. By the way... what happened to the studs. Looks like someone took a zip (cut off) wheel to them. Could a previous owner have swapped out the front axle for one from a 3/4 ton truck? Merle Quote

Merle I had to cut them off. The lug nuts spun and wouldn't come off. They are 5 on 4.75. I talked to place in Washington State. They will reline the shoes for $100. Now I need to find wheel cylinders. So if anybody knows where I can get a Wagner/Locheed part numbers HD 4147 and HD 4146 I'd be extremely greatful. Quote
Mr.Yuck Posted September 30, 2015 Author Report Posted September 30, 2015 I stand corrected, they are 5x5 Quote
Mlindblom Posted September 30, 2015 Report Posted September 30, 2015 Both rock auto and autozone online catalogs say they have rear wheel cylinders for your truck. Napa does not list them online. Call any good auto store and give them your numbers and they should be able to look Up new ones for you. Did you ask the place that's relining your shoes if they could look for new wheel cylinders? Dodgeb4ya Posted September 30, 2015 Report Posted September 30, 2015 Brake and Clutch Supply in Seattle,Tacoma and Everett are the big boy brake/clutch reliners in Washington state. Quote
Mr.Yuck Posted October 6, 2015 Author Report Posted October 6, 2015 I believe it was Unlimited Industries, or something like that in Bellmont? I didn't see any part numbers on the wheel cylinders, they look "side" specific. Nothing online is, I guess that is not a big deal. I don't think these are the correct assemblies for a 51 1/2 as the bolt pattern is 5 on 5 and they only have one wheel cylinder per side as apposed to 2 on the rear. I can rebuild them I guess, but I'd rather just get some new ones if they are available. Quote
