I always do all my own work on almost everything. I am still a licensed plumber, electrician and have tons of mechanical experience in my past.

So the recent questions about flywheels etc, is because I do not have a lift and I really am not crazy about dropping trannies on my gut these days.

I needed some clutch work. I took it to a guy down the street and I will spare all the details (Tim knows them all) but it was a disaster and the guy wont make good.

Bottom line is I dont know what they really did or if they put the parts I gave them in.  So I took it to another gent I know that is quite good on old cars but the problem is he only works on things at the dealership he works at. So things get pricey quick. He agreed we should get it back apart and see what happened but as I said, 70 clams an hour with no cap gets out of my ball park given the previous situation.

I have looked at all kinds of jacks etc and I came across this outfit you see in the pics below. myliftstand.com   He is a small operation and kicks them out in small quantities but i was lucky enough to be able to get a set today because a customer bailed out and as you well know timing is everything. I drove 2.5 hrs one way to get these but I can say it was worth it. I wished I would have had these much sooner and now I can get this thing done myself and get it done right.  These are very high quality and rated at 2000 lbs each  I am happy as a pig in mud.

Yep!  :D

You gotta admit Timbo, these solve the problem for paying young experimenters from lightening my wallet and giving a zero result.

OK, So now you bought the new toy for your car.  So please explain how you get the units to work and get the car up in the air on all four stands without the car being in a bad angle. And then  also how do you get the car off the stands.

Who is the guy making them and does he have an email address.

Yes but I am happy about that!!!   I will wait for the car shows to end so the boy can have his fun, but shortly thereafter, I get to make this right!   It dont mean I wont ask questions, I likely will, but I am now in control  and I dont have to pay for some guys Harley payments to experiment on my car. Dont get me started....

Look at my first post. It has the link and videos.  You jack the car up high enough to sit on the stand, then you jack the center of the stand up until it locks. Very beefy. Stainless locks... rated at 2000 lbs each.  Watch the videos.

I will warn you... this guy is a small outfit and is more or less made to order and they are not cheap 269 a pair + shipping which can be salty at 35 lbs each.  Luckily I was not too awful far away.  But its cheaper than a lift which I cant get reasonably in my garage anyway. So it is a good trade off.   These are very high quality for sure.

I like that, especially since my garage is too low for a conventional lift and the low lift devices usually seem to have the mechanism in the middle which makes them not very good for drive line work.. Price seem reasonable too. . .

I'd buy a set but then I'd have to put a lift kit on my creeper!

I'm to used to working with my nose touching the underside of a car... this tool would make it too easy for me, lol!
