Johnny S Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 Nice car....thanks for jumpin' in. I'm interested in which year Dakota you used and any of the issues you ran into. Whose disc brake kit did you use or did you go another way than using a kit? Quote
Don Coatney Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 Welcome to the forum. Did your Dodge have a long block (25.5 inches) engine originally? If so the Desoto engine should have been a bolt in. Nice looking car! Quote
Chester Brzostowski Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 What is hiding in the right of the picture. Looks like something from the 20's Chet... and Welcome... Quote
bct'sdodge Posted June 29, 2007 Author Report Posted June 29, 2007 thanks for the welcome the dakota swap was easy...i searched dakota on this site and got a great amount of info...the short story is pre 92 dakota ...change the brakes w/ rarwheel drive diplomat/dynasty after you yank the ebrake.....clean off all the perches and shock mnts ...weld on your oem perches....buy a crossover u joint....half external and half internal clips...i'm going to find the post i used to give the credit where its due...Don i'm not sure about the block swap...was done by a good friend b4 he was killed at work...the paint is "rust not" from lordco(canadian i think)and a healthy dose of reducer to make it harden ....the car on the right is a studebaker erskine...about 30 i think...somebody in the 70s turned it from a four door to two....will be hot rod soon... 55 Fargo Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 Welcome to the board. Always nice to see a fellow Canuck jump in here with these great guys from south of the border. I like your ride, some neat mods done already, how do you like running the car with the Dakota rearend. What is the gear ratio, what kind of highway speed are you driving her at. I assume you have a 251 engine, as the original was either the 218 or 228 long block Plymouth and Dodge 6s. Did you say the paint is Rust -not, that is some type of rust enamel paint with automotive reducer and hardner. I sprayed my Chrysler with Tremclad primer grey and cut it with Medium speed enamel reducer, it worked great. That was another T.A. tip....................Fred Quote

BobT-47P15 Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 Welcome Garett. Jump right in and join the fun and good info. I'm in Missouri where the weather may be a little warmer than yours. If you're ever down this way, just let me know. The "Vegas" of Canada???? Care to give us a little more info on that??? Quote
bob westphal Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 Welcome Garett. I'm in Stanwood Wash. just 90 miles down I-5 from Blaine. For those not familiar with the great Pacific Northwest, Osoyoos BC is right on the Canadian/US border and is adjoining a neat little town called Oroville in eastern Washington. Collector's Auto Supply is actually in Osoyoos. They ship from Oroville to cut down on duties. Quote
anthonyb Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 This is getting to be a small world. I once lived in the booming metropolis of Tonasket, Wa. just down the road a few miles from Oroville. Quote
Allan Faust Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 The "Vegas" of Canada???? Care to give us a little more info on that??? When I was down there in 1980, most of the town was Casinos, hotels and restaurants..... and someone told my parents that it was considered a northern Vegas..... hence my comments. Allan Quote

Normspeed Posted January 19, 2008 Report Posted January 19, 2008 So, you probably only put the top up when it gets cold, huh. Darn, you Canadians are tough! Quote
Don Coatney Posted January 19, 2008 Report Posted January 19, 2008 So, you probably only put the top up when it gets cold, huh. Darn, you Canadians are tough! Looks to me like the top is up:D Quote
bct'sdodge Posted January 19, 2008 Author Report Posted January 19, 2008 just been working on the top for spring...going to make the bows next and then i'll be warm and cozy...osoyoos may be the vegas of canada only because its the end of the same desert type ...the first nations have been trying to open a casino for years but no success...the only gambling in osoyoos is "idiot tax" govnt lotteries...you are right about the hotels motels and resturants tho...lots of those to service the tourists and wine tasters....maybe the "motel strip " is where the comparison started..
