I just watched an interesting MGM promo video on TCM about the filming of the 1950 film classic King Solomons Mines. They used 7 specially prepared Dodge trucks to haul the crew and gear for the movie. 4 of the trucks were based on Power Wagons and the other 3 were early B series Pilothouse trucks.....2 2.5 tons and a COE truck with referidgeration. Very cool video. In a lot of cases they went into areas that no motorized vehicles had ever gone. They put 70k miles on these trucks by the time they returned to the MGM studios. Cost for vehicle repairs on the whole expedition was a whopping $250 +/-.

Very impressive stuff.
