Normspeed Posted June 23, 2007 Report Posted June 23, 2007 Stumbled across this guy's shop a couple weeks ago, in Irwindale CA. He and his wife are Chinese, speak almost no English, and live in a cool loft in his warehouse. He's cranking out flatheads, pans, knuckleheads and has a Triumph twin in the works. Never seen anything like his bikes. His name is Shin Ya. Check that muffler out. These rigs are more art than transportation but I'd love to own one. Quote
62rebelP23 Posted June 23, 2007 Report Posted June 23, 2007 those are wicked cool... what an imagination this dude has. makes Teutel's stuff look pale... and getting Jesse James' a little nervous too... man, again; those are cool rigs. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted June 23, 2007 Report Posted June 23, 2007 dad had a knucklehead back in the day...his was not cut up like this pictured one..had leather bags and all...real sharp...his brother rode an Indian..they hit each other in a curve in the mountains...both went over the hill...pretty messy I understand... Don Coatney Posted June 24, 2007 Report Posted June 24, 2007 I too had a knuckelhead until I met Lisa;) My grandpappy bought and road a motorcycle (assume it was a Harley or Indian) from Kentucky to Indianapolis in 1909 to watch the first 500 mile race. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted June 24, 2007 Report Posted June 24, 2007 Don..talk about a memory...I rode from Charleston SC in 1984 to Indianapolis to see the 500...it was an adventure for sure...I was amazed that the locals routed motorcycles down the sidewalk and got us into a special parking area...we had no tickets in advance...paid a scalper 24.00 I think for infield seats...was a good trip all around. Wild in the snakepit...more b**bies than you could shake a stick at... Quote
Don Coatney Posted June 24, 2007 Report Posted June 24, 2007 Tim; Aint no seats in the infield. But with the mamories who cares? Been there, done that many times:D Every year I went to the 500 there was a car rolled over and burned in the infield. Wonder if that still happens? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted June 24, 2007 Report Posted June 24, 2007 I may have called the area by the wrong name but we certainly were in the inner circle of the track and seated in bleachers...man that was 23 years ago....might be the rolling cars shut this area down..was there only once. Quote
Don Coatney Posted June 24, 2007 Report Posted June 24, 2007 One year while vacationing in Indianapolis late in the summer I played the golf gourse inside the track. There was no race activity going on at the time but it was fun as I had the whole course to myself. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted June 24, 2007 Report Posted June 24, 2007 http://indymotorspeedway.com/500sit-inf.html Wikipedia also has some nice facts about the track.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indianapolis_Motor_Speedway FROM THE MAP PAGE FOR SEATING: http://indymotorspeedway.com/500sit.html You can sit inside the track. At other oval tracks, the stands are all on the outside of the oval. At Indianapolis, there are many stands on the inside as well. There are also grassy hills in the infield where people can watch the race. Quote
knuckleharley Posted June 24, 2007 Report Posted June 24, 2007 There ain't nothing prettier than a knuckle Harley. Quote
