50 Dodge Lug Nut Posted December 9, 2014 Report Posted December 9, 2014 Hello All - My son and I are readying Mrs. Green for her new paint job. FWIW, From what we've seen & learned, she still has the original factory paint, although there was some minor body work done on the fenders and trunk lid and the front passenger door was replaced at some time in her past life! We are stumped on how to remove the D O D G E letters from the front of the hood without breaking the clips, or worse, breaking the studs off the letters themselves. Attached are two pics of the clips, taken from inside the hood. Anyone sharing their past experiences (good ones only, please) on this, or actual knowledge would be appreciated. Thanks. Frank Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted December 9, 2014 Report Posted December 9, 2014 dental picks have been the best tool for removal that I have found..even then, you need be careful..just removed the entire set of these clips from a 50 Plymouth...if you careful you can reuse the clips...I do recommend that as they are quite hard to find intact.. 49roadster Posted December 9, 2014 Report Posted December 9, 2014 I have done it with a small screwdriver but I think the pick would be better. Quote

Thank you Plymouthy for your suggestion and to 49roadster for a confirmation! Dental picks it shall be.......................and I guess I'm going to have to find some more patience and time. Both of which seem to be in short supply at my age. Again, many thanks for the help. Frank Quote

These are the better tools...they still breakable..and yes they break and not bend under pressure as the HF will Quote
Don Coatney Posted December 10, 2014 Report Posted December 10, 2014 I also have this set made by MAC that are a bit more durable. Quote
