dannyras Posted November 18, 2014 Report Posted November 18, 2014 (edited) Hello everyone this is my first post and I would like some help identifying this truck. I whas talking to the previous owner and i got intrested and i will probably buy this truck next year. I have not had the chance to look for de VIN but i do have a engine number that is: D P26*8568I*. for what my research tells me, this is a 230cu engine out of a 1955 plymouth car. I also want to know where the VIN is located, no luck looking on the left front chasis. I posted 2 pics of the truck and will post more later. vehicle description: I was told it is a 1958 dodge D100 or D200 or D300. it is a side step. has single headlights and 6 lugs truck wheels, could be a dually. thanks everyone in advance Edited November 18, 2014 by dannyras Quote
B1B Keven Posted November 18, 2014 Report Posted November 18, 2014 Welcome. That's a strange one. LOL The '58,'59 and '60 Dodge's all had four head lights. Is it a Fargo? Quote
Frank Ollian Posted November 18, 2014 Report Posted November 18, 2014 Early 58, four headelights were not legal everywhere until sometime in 58. 1 Quote
ggdad1951 Posted November 18, 2014 Report Posted November 18, 2014 welcome! Sorry no help on the ID from me. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted November 18, 2014 Report Posted November 18, 2014 here at home I have an early 58 single headlight D100..while the very truck looks to be a 58..the headlight treatment can be changed 2 to 4 (58-60)with just the right trim parts...the grille upper and lower have been added by someone along the way...while the upper grille look somewhat close to the 60 it is not a flush fit nor is the grate proper spacing....the lower grille is yet an addition...so while it is a Power Giant..the add-ons are yet unknown..as a styling cue..I vote thumbs down.. 2 Quote
dannyras Posted November 18, 2014 Author Report Posted November 18, 2014 Hey everyone. Thnx for the replies. The single headlights where used on power wagons in the late 50s. That was one of the reasons I was confused but it's original from what I see. The grill is indeed not original and really really ugly. That would be the first thing I take of. From the bracket I can see it should have the 1958 3 piece grill. What where the differences between the d100, 200 and 300. Could the truck wheels give an indication maybe? Quote
JBNeal Posted November 19, 2014 Report Posted November 19, 2014 D100 & D200 rims had hubcaps; those 6-lug Budd rims are a giveaway that it is a D300 1-ton...if they are the one piece rims, I know some folks that would arm wrassle ya for them things Quote
dannyras Posted November 20, 2014 Author Report Posted November 20, 2014 Thanx everyone for the advice and knowledge. I will update as soon as I go to the truck again. I'm not good at arm wrassle Si I will just stay away haha Quote
