Added a set of fog lights to the '37 and installed a pair of H6006 halogen headlight bulbs. NAPA wanted over $20 each for the halogen lights. Got a pair from Rock Auto for less than $19 for the pair including shipping (less than $6 per bulb). Haven't tried them on the road yet, but they seem quite a bit brighter (I have flashlights brighter than the stock bulbs).

Hey, those look good and appear that they will light you way much better !

I just added a set of 4" post-32-0-79447100-1414373902_thumb.jpgfogs to Ole Gussie. I think they may be just like yours.

I bought a pair of halogens a while back..........put them in, but there was a problem with the headlight wiring........so I

removed them and went back to original type to make sure the halogens were not any part of the problem.   Have not

re-installed them yet.   Someone earlier said I should use relays with those lilghts......you might want to check into that.

Maybe someone will reiterate the reason for that.

Do a calculation on the current draw for the original lights: That is probably what the original light switch, before decades of corrosion set in, was designed for. Dollars to donuts that your halogen bulbs draw more current than that, so you use the switch to operate a relay that is designed for the load.

I've had a headlight relay on for over a year now. Got the fog lights off Ebay. Had a little problem with the ground. Brackets are powder coated and I had to scrape some off where they touch the bumper brackets.

The other weak spot is the dimmer switch. Corrosion there will play hell with lights. Also make sure the ground wire from the head lamp connecter is a good solid connection to the body, and a ground strap from the body to the engine or frame will go a long way in making all body grounded acc work as designed.

The thing most people miss is that the older 6V headlights were generally only 30 watts, while the newer halogen ones are generally 55/60 watts.  When I put mine it I had problems with both the headlight switch and the dimmer switch, so I went to a double relay headlight setup, installed it up by the battery, and ran heavier gauge wire to the headlight buckets.  That was the headlight switch and dimmer switch no longer carry any significant current, they just act to turn on the relay.
