Norm's Coupe Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 Did people actually drive until the tires got like this:eek: Shel, When I was a kid I put many a mile on tires just like those. Some were even laying a few eggs here and there. Never had a flat or blow out though. My older brother also had tires like that on his first car. One night while the 5 of us were eating dinner, we heard what sounded like three gun shots. Looked out the kitchen window and my brother had 3 flat tires. They had blown just sitting in the driveway. AJ Johnson Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 Heck there is still some life left in the 3rd one, just look at that tread depth. AJ Quote
greg g Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 number two looks like it was a snow tire, that last winter must have been something.......These are a good example of why some states have vehicle inspections. Tread wear looks consistant though, musta not needed an alignment. Quote
40phil41 Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 Reminds me of my first car; a 1950 Ford. For some reason I wore both rear tires bare at the same time and ended up with two flat tires at once! Had to install my pair of snow tires for the rest of the summer since I couldn't afford new ones. Phil Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 And when we did get new tires, they weren't new. Usually we just bought a set of recaps from Western Auto or Firestone. Quote
Don Coatney Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 Did people actually drive until the tires got like this:eek: I have a habit of looking at the tires of cars stopped at stop lights. You would be surprised what you see. Try it. Quote
