Don Coatney Posted June 24, 2014 Report Posted June 24, 2014 I dug out my carburetor synchronization tool and checked my linkage adjustments. First time I had done this in a lot of years. Found them to be almost perfect. I also made my air cleaners look a tad better with a touch of paint. Quote
greg g Posted June 24, 2014 Report Posted June 24, 2014 Hey bring that uni synch to Mich. I hear there might be a few dual carbed cars in attendance. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted June 24, 2014 Report Posted June 24, 2014 that is a good sign of two things..proper setup on install and good linkage design..another key rule to remember is to always accelerate the engine even when tweaking under the hood from a common central pull point...never from a single carb cam/lever Quote
Bob Riding Posted June 24, 2014 Report Posted June 24, 2014 Don, that is something that I need to do. I'm running dual Carters, using George Asche's linkage and dual intake/ exhaust on my 218. Right now I only have a single tailpipe, but will soon take it to a muffler shop to add the second. After that's done I want to do the testing and adjustment. Can you buy the tool new or do you have to find one on eBay, Craigslist, etc? Quote
greg g Posted June 24, 2014 Report Posted June 24, 2014 (edited) Uni synch and a couple others are still on the market and can be found at swap meets. I did mine by listening to the air flow through a piece of tubing laid perpendicular to the air flow at the top of the air horn, but that was 10 years ago and my hearing ain't what it used to be. I believe you can also get a fairly good initial setting by using a vacuum gauge connected to carburetor vacuum advance ports. Google this diy carburetor synchronizer tool then hit video. Will do. that is a good sign of two things..proper setup on install and good linkage design..another key rule to remember is to always accelerate the engine even when tweaking under the hood from a common central pull point...never from a single carb cam/lever You are correct on the pull point. I am using the original George Asche linkage setup. I have his new design linkage and will install it at head change time. Don, that is something that I need to do. If I recall it was forum member Mark Haymond from Fresno who gave me the tool I have. Quote

JDaniel64 Posted June 24, 2014 Report Posted June 24, 2014 I had just stumbled upon mine at a garage sale this weekend, of all places! Thought it would come in handy for a future dual-carb upgrade. Quote
steveplym Posted June 24, 2014 Report Posted June 24, 2014 I bought one from Speedway motors, I wasn't very expensive if I remember. Quote
