lugnut123 Posted June 4, 2014 Report Posted June 4, 2014 is there an easy way to take the key switch apart?? I was goimg to get a tumbler and keys from burnbaum and make it work again. Does the tumbler need to be in the on position to let it come apart?? Quote
TodFitch Posted June 4, 2014 Report Posted June 4, 2014 For many years, but I am not sure all, you could put the key in the start position (or on position if there was no start position) and then there was a release, usually a pin hole you stuck something into, that allows the key and tumbler to turn farther and then come out. _shel_ny Posted June 4, 2014 Report Posted June 4, 2014 This is about a trunk lock, but works the same way. http://p15-d24.com/topic/35784-turtle-lock-question/?hl=%2Block+%2Bcylinder Quote
lugnut123 Posted June 4, 2014 Author Report Posted June 4, 2014 I don't have the key to the ignition switch. I will try to drill the keeper pin out and the tumbler should come out. Quote
JerseyHarold Posted June 4, 2014 Report Posted June 4, 2014 You or a locksmith can pick the lock to the 'on' position and remove the cylinder. A locksmith can easily make a key to fit it. Check pricing because it may be cheaper than replacing the lock. 1 Quote
Young Ed Posted June 4, 2014 Report Posted June 4, 2014 You can also get that same lock cylinder and key at any parts house. Quote
_shel_ny Posted June 4, 2014 Report Posted June 4, 2014 (edited) You or a locksmith can pick the lock to the 'on' position and remove the cylinder. A locksmith can easily make a key to fit it. Check pricing because it may be cheaper than replacing the lock. Lock cylinder is about $10 at a parts store. ($30 + for the same cylinder from the "rare parts" vendors) I doubt you will ever find a locksmith that will come in anywhere close to the $10 price. Pretty simple to dremel the pin down enough to release. Edit: rare parts vendor will remove it from the store box before sending it to you Edited June 4, 2014 by shel_ny Quote

lugnut123 Posted June 10, 2014 Author Report Posted June 10, 2014 Does anyone know the correct wireing for the back of the switch? i have a coil bolt that I think should be the hot wire to the coil. There is another that says radio. Is that the wire that comes from the battery?? There is a third that isn't marked.. thanks noel Quote
Jeff Balazs Posted June 12, 2014 Report Posted June 12, 2014 I believe the terminal marked radio is what is usually labelled accessory terminal...... and the unmarked one is power to the switch from the battery. The one marked coil is the ignition source from the switch to the coil. Jeff Quote
lugnut123 Posted June 12, 2014 Author Report Posted June 12, 2014 Well no wonder the truck don't wanna run with the key. Thanks noel Quote
