Barry Maxwell Posted November 8, 2013 Report Posted November 8, 2013 Yesterday I bought a new computer with a new operating system. The technician transferred the contents of my old computer to the new one. When I click on the black dot (prompt for unread posts) it responds normally. I read the unread post(s) and return to the previous screen and go to the next unread post prompt. Now, however, instead of the previous prompt going away as it did before, the prompt remains. When I have finished reading all the unread posts for the threads with the prompt, all the prompts are still there. The only way to remove them is to log off. When I log on the next time, they are gone and the cycle repeats itself. Has anyone else had this problem? P.S. I hope all this makes sense to you. Barry Quote
Merle Coggins Posted November 8, 2013 Report Posted November 8, 2013 Have you tried using the "Next Unread Thread" link at the bottom of each thread to move to the next unread post, instead of going back to the list to select the next one? I've found that if I use the browser's "Back" button the thread isn't marked as read until I do something else and then come back to it. Quote
Don Coatney Posted November 8, 2013 Report Posted November 8, 2013 If the unread thread has grown to a new page and you dont read the new page it will still leave it as unread. Quote
ggdad1951 Posted November 8, 2013 Report Posted November 8, 2013 the "next unread thread" link has hosed me in the past by marking everything as read....I just back button now and I've had less issues. Quote
Dave72dt Posted November 8, 2013 Report Posted November 8, 2013 No need to log off, hit the refresh button Quote
DJ194950 Posted November 9, 2013 Report Posted November 9, 2013 Back button works for me, may take a couple of seconds to get back to the list of unread posts, but at least they are stiil in some order newest to latest! Scroll down to the oldest unread and away you go, repeat. Quote
