Captain Neon Posted October 29, 2013 Report Posted October 29, 2013 As the leaves change colour on the trees so come out the old cars bearing "FOR SALE" signs, and the requests for free sight unseen online vehicle appraisals. Quote
pflaming Posted October 29, 2013 Report Posted October 29, 2013 I'm constantly watching the road sides for old vehicles. Got to start letting my wife drive, can't car watch and drive safely at the same time. Those are nice lookers. Thanks for posting. 1 Quote
GlennCraven Posted October 29, 2013 Report Posted October 29, 2013 I'm also always watching the roadsides for old cars. And well off the roadsides, too. I'm getting almost as good at spotting rusty sheet metal in the woods from 100 yards at 65 mph as my ex-father-in-law was at spotting deer in those circumstances. But too much focus on the spotting does present a highway hazard. So thankfully the girlfriend has started looking, too, so I can better parcel out my attention. 1 Quote
48Dodger Posted October 30, 2013 Report Posted October 30, 2013 I like driving through the bad side of town. Always good way to see old iron sitting in the driveway, on the street, or blocked up on the lawn. The good side of town always hides them...not as fun. lol. 48D 1 Quote

The good side of town always hides them...not as fun. lol. 48D I spotted a 1951 Packard sedan on the wrong side of the tracks here in town before I bought my Chrysler. It was sitting practically down on the ground at the time and a fella who has lived around here all his life said it had been that way awhile, so I avoided it fearing floor and frame damage, though at some point much of the body had been dealt with and primed. (Rust was returning low in the quarters and rockers.) Then my Chrysler, showing very little rust outwardly and stored (recently anyway) under cover on inflated tires, has frame rust. Go figure. In the last couple of weeks, the owner aired up the tires on that Packard and pushed it around to the other side of the house with a "For Sale" sign propped against the grille. It's gone now. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted October 30, 2013 Report Posted October 30, 2013 as an owner of a 51 Packard..rest assured they share the very same floor and rocker damage afflicting most all Mopar of the era...as their bodies were also built by Briggs.. Quote
