FESTER60 Posted October 10, 2013 Report Posted October 10, 2013 Hello everyone. I have been absent for a while, but now I am back. My 318/904 swap is progressing but I am at a crossroads sort of. I am about to run a new fuel line from my tank to the fuel pump. What I need to know is would 5/16 be large enough or do I need to go up to 3/8? I am running an Edelbrock 650 cfm carb. I think if I need to go up to 3/8 I will need to modify the bung in the tank. Any ideas? Thanks. Quote
casper50 Posted October 10, 2013 Report Posted October 10, 2013 Fester if any one part is 5/16ths going to 3/8ths for the rest makes no difference. the 5/16ths will still restrict the flow to what can make it through that size. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted October 10, 2013 Report Posted October 10, 2013 things you will find in line sizing is race related and not necessary for the street minded car with the occasional highway goosing...personally I feel your 5/16 is more than adequate for the engine you are running...they recommend 3/8 but the associated HP of that is approx. 425....so based on that your 5/16 should be good.. http://www.holley.com/data/products/pictures/FuelPumpchart.pdf Quote
48Dodger Posted October 10, 2013 Report Posted October 10, 2013 You nailed it Tim. Unless you're planning on flooring it to the point of starvation(1/4 mile racing).....a 650 should be way happy with a 5/16 fuel line. Just curious.....what carb are you running? (i.e. edelbrock, holley, dbl pumper mech secondiers, etc) 48D Quote
Daliant. Posted October 10, 2013 Report Posted October 10, 2013 5/16" line is what you would find on a stock 318 equipped vehicle. Quote

Yes I figured that. I just meant that I would have to replace the bung with a larger 3/8 size to accomodate the 3/8 line. Quote
DJ194950 Posted October 11, 2013 Report Posted October 11, 2013 Hate to use any reference to another car brand but-- My best friend has a 396 CI in his 55 C. with a 600cfm Edelbrock vac. secondaries carb, Mild cam, otherwise 67 stock, with new 5/16" line tank to carb. with absolutely no probems. Should be no problem with yours! Doug Quote

I got a super deal on it at a swap meet. $40.00 and it works great. No rebuild needed. 1 Quote

That was recommended to me by the guy who was helping install my 360, but since we couldn't finish (yet anyway) there was no decision reached. Quote
chopt50wgn Posted October 12, 2013 Report Posted October 12, 2013 I 've got 5/16 fuel line on my 360 powered wagon. Works great and am upgrading over the winter to the MSD Atomic FI and will still use 5/16 line. Quote
Andydodge Posted October 12, 2013 Report Posted October 12, 2013 Glenn, yep the battery's in the trunk, I made a metal box and welded it on the US passenger side, theres a battery cut-off switch mounted on the drivers side of the console and I have always turned off the switch whenever the car is parked ..........just a safe habit I got into.....the cutoff switch is on the side of the console, just below the mopar shift lever in this pic.........andyd Quote
