Bob_Koch Posted July 6, 2013 Report Posted July 6, 2013 Just uploaded three sales videos made for Dodge that compare our pilot-house trucks to either Chevy or Ford. These were produced in the 50's as filmstrips and were just converted to video. Why is Dodge so much better? Watch these and you'll have the facts. Hope you enjoy them. http://dodgepilothouseclub.org/know/know.htm 2 Quote
B1B Keven Posted July 6, 2013 Report Posted July 6, 2013 Hmmm. I don't see anything marked 'video'? Quote
MBF Posted July 6, 2013 Report Posted July 6, 2013 I just started rereading the Bunn book last night. He states early on that comparably equipped version showed the trucks to be equal. I'm kinda biased towards the MOP's, but there are things I like alot about the other two too Quote

55 Fargo Posted July 6, 2013 Report Posted July 6, 2013 Grandfather bought a brand new 1952 GMC pickup, but stated to My Uncle, if He had wanted a tougher better truck, He would have bought a Dodge. Now not trying to stir the hornets nest on 1948-53 Chevy trucks, as i do like those trucks too. I do think a splash oiled 216 or 235, are light years behind in design to a Mopar Flathead 6, at least as far as oiling and bearings are concerned. I have no rouble with my 1955 Fargo with 251 and 3.23 gears moving around modern traffic for the most part. I would think a Stovebolt 216 and 4.11 dif, would have some troubles, and it would be hard on the drivetrain. An early 50s GM truck, with a later 235 or 261 full oil pressure engine with a the right gears in the siff, would be no problem. The later 235 and 261 engines were also great engines.... Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted July 7, 2013 Report Posted July 7, 2013 (edited) Yes..... If you own an old Dodge truck you should listen to what "Wise Way Tu" says. He is the dodge truck sales expert just like Mr Tech. Watch the old DT sales films and you will know what i'm refering too. Bob Edited July 7, 2013 by Dodgeb4ya Quote

pflaming Posted July 7, 2013 Report Posted July 7, 2013 Today I will put my son's 54 Chevy 1/2T in a car show. Will be looking for a Dodge while there. Chevy Dodge comparsoons: (1) Leg room, because the Dodge fuel tank is not in the cab, my Dodge has a LOT more leg room thus MUCH more comfortable behind the wheel. Dodge Cab is 54" wide; Chevy 54 cab is 48" wide, Dodge bed is 6'6" long, Chevry is 6'. Quote

Jeff Balazs Posted July 7, 2013 Report Posted July 7, 2013 Neat videos Bob. Thanks very much for posting them. It would be cool to do an actual side by side comparison of similarly equipped & geared trucks in relatively stock condition. I suspect the area of biggest differences would be in how well they steer and in creature comforts. I know I have been impressed by the turning radius of my truck especially considering it has the 116" wheelbase. There are lot's of much newer trucks with what I consider to be crappy turning radius.
