flint52 Posted July 5, 2013 Report Posted July 5, 2013 (edited) Hello, finally finished my brakes & suspension rebuild on my 50 meadowbrook with a fluiddrive, so i go and try to drive it around the block and it seemed to take alot more gas than it should to move it. After i circled around back to my house i see tire marks where i was going. Why is this? I put it back on jack stands and all the tires freekly move. Any ideas? Thanks Ryan Edited July 5, 2013 by flint52 Quote
pflaming Posted July 5, 2013 Report Posted July 5, 2013 Did you put the jack stands on the rear axle and the front suspension assemblies? Then start the engine and see what happens. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted July 5, 2013 Report Posted July 5, 2013 Check the alignment of your front wheels. I'm thinking you may have too much toe in causing the tires to scuff really hard when you drive it. It could be toed out severely too, but that would make it very hard to drive straight. Merle Quote
Don Coatney Posted July 5, 2013 Report Posted July 5, 2013 Is your emergency brake on? On jack stands the rear tires will spin freely even though the emergency brake is on. They will just spin in different directions. Quote
flint52 Posted July 5, 2013 Author Report Posted July 5, 2013 Thanks for the replies. Emergency brake was off. first thing i though of, When it was on jack stands i did start it and go through the gears everything sounded and felt fine. I'll look at the alignment of the front wheels and see if it looks odd. Ryan Quote
mrwrstory Posted July 5, 2013 Report Posted July 5, 2013 I'm bettin toe-in. You can easily check and set it yourself. If that's true,....now we can argue about the correct amount. Quote
