8SECONDSS Posted May 8, 2013 Report Posted May 8, 2013 I'm looking for .020 under main & conrod bearings for my 218 cu flathead. I was told that .010 and .030 is available for the mains and might be able to get the .020 for the conrods. Looking to save some life on my crank by going just.020 on both. Quote
Alshere59 Posted May 8, 2013 Report Posted May 8, 2013 Vintage power wagons have both. http://mopar.pairserver.com/p15d24ph_forum/links/goto/40-vintage-power-wagons/ Quote
Young Ed Posted May 8, 2013 Report Posted May 8, 2013 Both should be available thats what I have in my 46. Quote
Don Coatney Posted May 8, 2013 Report Posted May 8, 2013 Have you checked with the machine shop that is turning you crankshaft? I always feel comfortable having the machine shop supply the bearings as they know exactly what is needed and there pricing is usually fair. Sometimes lower that the antique parts sellers. Quote
8SECONDSS Posted May 8, 2013 Author Report Posted May 8, 2013 Don, I spoke to my machinist yesterday an said he can get the engine kit with the bearings. He was going to order it this morning and told me if the .020 bearings was not available he will let me know. I was asking him about the water distribution tube. He said he did one before and it's hard to get out. I didn't have any cooling problems so I told him to leave the old one in. Do you think its going to be a problem? thanks, Greg Quote
Don Coatney Posted May 8, 2013 Report Posted May 8, 2013 Were it me I would replace the water distribution tube. Fifty bucks at Vintage Power Wagons. Quote

The shop needs to have bearings in hand to spec out the crank before grinding. .020 bearings should be available. The higher you go (smaller the journal) they get harder to find. Quote
