Tried it out today, starter spins faster but smooth. And I have another issue. Now the carb has a slight hesitation off idle. When it was 6 volt I was running an electric fuel pump, the carter type. Same type of pump but 12 volt, and carb hesitating. Any clues? Thanks
I'm converting my 47 dodge truck to 12 volts and want to keep my foot activated starter set up. I know that it needs a ford solenoid but that would take away the foot start. My 6 volt starter was just rebuilt. Thanks, Greg
i got one more question if y'all get time i need some measurements off a stock axel here is a pic i also need overall width and spring pad and shock location and any pics yo can send thanks
Hope this helps;
Contact Ford Mike on The Hamb website. He has a 53 Pilot House with a axle from Sid. He sent me some pics of his set up but it was different from mine. He's willing to help, seems like a nice guy
Didn't get to the parking brake yet. Still thinking of what to do. Was looking at the hydraulic brake but heard after a while it loses pressure. I have a ford ranger 8.8 rear end so getting parking brake cables and parts is easy to get.
My truck is a 47 but I just installed my axle from Sid. It's a 2 inch drop and he stretched it so the king pin is in the stock location. Used his tie rod drop blocks and tie rod ends. He's amazing! Axle looks stock except for the drop and stretch. I had to modify the steering arm to clear the drag link and get it leveled. Other then that it was a easy install. Before the axle, I removed springs to get the drop I wanted but the axle was hitting the oil pan and the spring arc was reversed. I added back a leaf to level the arc of the spring and ordered the axle. Greg
It doesn't. Look like it opens. In the wiper panels there are hinges but nothing is connected to it and there is a hole in the dash for the crank but there isn't any gear to make the window open. Are there two types of windows, opening and non opening? On the truck now there is a thick weather strip that the window sits in (looks like a two piece) and it looks like behind it they sealed the weatherstrip to the body. They also sealed around the outer edge of the weather strip with silicone or something similar. It's a mess and it leaks. I got the rubbers from Roberts but not sure which one is for the front and rear glass. There is a thick rubber that kind of looks like the one on the windshield now but its too short and a thin one piece rubber that fits around the windshield but doesn't look like the one that's on now. Do you glue the windshield to the body then the thin one piece rubber to the windshield? Thanks, Greg
Does anyone have pictures or a video on replacing the windshield rubber for my 47 dodge truck? Was wondering how hard it is to replace. If it's too hard i'll send it to the glass shop.Also the windshield doesn"t crank out.
