It seems to me that the radiator is what is broke.  Fix that first, don't fill it with mud.

Head is still on the bench at home. Car is in the garage at home. Car ran great on my long test drive before I left for my trip. Problem is my clutch knee. After the long test drive I could barely walk back inside the house. So the car stayed home and I drove my truck. I am in northern Indiana as I write this. I am in the process of going through a series of shots to put a big bandaid on my knee. If the shots do not work then knee replacement is in order. And I may need to throw a slush box in my pilgrum.

Don, The only thing wrong with replacing your knee is that you will want to kick yourself for not doing it long ago. I have both done.

I have two cousins and a good friend who have had a knee replaced and all say they will never do it again as the pain is just as bad as before.  The cousins were done years ago and the friend's was done just last year with the new method of relining the rubbing surface of the joint which is supposed to be less invasive than replacing the whole joint.  I do not think that one can judge what will be best for them from the results that someone else experienced.  I have seen both sides of the picture from people who have had the joint replaced, some good and some bad, so you never know the outcome until after the procedure is done and the rehabilitation is finished.

Don, do it. changing the head is not a very difficult job on an engine that has been apart and put back together by you.then be sure to use the car to show it off. most people will never notice it, but you will.it is just as easy to put the old one back if needed. capt den

Oh....and for those who don't know me.....I spend most of my time on the truck side.

I consider Don and Tim good buddies..... any harsh or brutally written exchanges are in fun.

And most importantly, niether of them can beat me in anything with 4 wheels.

Don, I hope you can still make it to the Mount Victory Petroliana Swap and Antique Car Show on Memorial Day.  I'm bringing my DeSoto, son-in-law and grandson.

Don,

Don't start swapping the Spitfire head and drop it on your foot.  You can paint "Spitfire" on the present head. Swipe some red nail polish.

Now, you could take the superhighway most of the way to Mount Victory, to save the wear on your clutching knee.

Maybe someday you could get a clutch lever, on the floor, like a gearshift, like on a tractor.  Silly idea, but, hey.

Tim (48Dodger) is right there are still a few of us that banter back and forth and some on here do not know the history of the posters and their interactions and seems they take more offense and post more negatives than the guy for whom the post was intended...I am glad we scan still joke a bit here....
